HEORES OF OLYMPUS: THE BLOOD OF OLYMPUS
Author: Rick Riordan
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion Books
Summary:
After what took forever, we finally have the 7 demigods from the prophecy together! Nico, Coach Hedge and Reyna’s journey to Camp Half-Blood featuring the Athena Parthenos is also fascinating along with the 7 demigods’ journey to Greece. But the question still remains, can they actually defeat Gaea? None of them had a plan; or so they thought.
Review:
You could say this book was spotlight on Leo featuring Nico. And I’m not complaining. It finally made some things very clear 1)Leo was the hidden gem among the demigods but nobody took him too seriously due to his silly sense of humor 2) Nico di Angelo had been through some seriously demented stuff in his life and his behavior was understandable
Since this the last book of the series, I'm not going to give a whole review (to avoid spoilers) but I am going to mention some of the absolutely wild parts of the book
First of all, Leo plans. I fear I am never going to stop talking about this. He was literally one of the main reasons the demigods could win the battle against Gaea. He had a plan; a plan that would either kill him or save everyone or both. He also perfectly deciphered the prophecy of seven. He knew what was coming and he took action accordingly. I see this book as a Leo appreciation book; something I was desperately waiting for.
Secondly, Reyna is extremely underappreciated. I hated how everyone just seemed to take this girl for granted. Her side of the story, her journey to Camp Jupiter, her childhood, her past, her struggles, everything is so interesting. Definitely amongst the best written characters of this series.
Last, but not the least, Nico di Angelo. This guy finally gets some peace in his life towards the end of this book. It was so obvious that he was struggling since his first appearance in The Titan’s Curse. Everyone thought that things would change for the better after The Last Olympian but his situation just got worse. Despite everything, he gets a happy ending in this book, but I'm not going to say whether the same goes for everyone
