MAGNUS CHASE AND THE SHIP OF DEAD

Author: Rick Riordan
Publisher: Disney Hyperion
Genre: Norse Mythology
Age Range: 11+

Short Summary:
After months of adventures Magnus has come to the final battle. Loki, the trickster god, is free from his chains and is readying Naglfar, the ship of dead with an army of zombies and giants to begin Ragnarok, the final battle. And like always, its up to Magnus and his friends to stop Loki for which they have to sail across Midgard, Jotunhiem and Niflhiem to reach Naglfar before Midguard's summer. The only concern is that Magnus would have to use his words as strength in order to defeat the silver-tounged Loki. And since Magnus isnt the best when it comes to using words (unlike his cousin Annabeth) they also have to find a magical elixir to make Magnus as powerful as Loki. But with great power also comes great risks. And this risk can literaly kill Magnus. So there's no saying of what will happen when Magnus takes the elixir.
But that is, if he finds the elixir since its not easy to find since they are going to spend alot of time fighting sea monsters on their way. Speaking of the sea, Percy also makes a small appearance at the start to help Magnus deal with the sea since Percy is the sea expert. Aside from that I was also thrilled to find out about the einherjar from floor nineteen. And you'll finally find out about Mallory Keen's story.

Also new gods like Njord, the god of winds and sea who is a great written character who is extremely proud of his feet. And there's also Frigg, the godess of foresight, who comes to great help to the crew of the big banana. Wait! Did I forget the big banana? The big banana is the ship gifted to Magnus by his father Frey and he nicknamed it the big banana since its big and bright yellow like a banana. Plus, there's also more about Alfhiem, Hearth's hometown and his journey back there to retrive the Whatstone of Bolverk. But in the end the question still remains, will Magnus be able to defeat Loki?
